JSO inmate accused of raping female corrections officer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sheriff Rutherford with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced that one of their female correction officers has been raped by an inmate.
Police say 26-year-old Jonathan Tave battered the woman around 11 a.m. Thursday by punching and beating her with a shank.
Tave was arrested without incident shortly after the attack.
The assault happened on the fifth floor of the prison library where the corrections officer worked.
Tave was previously in jail for other felony charges including arson, two counts of murder and possession of a firearm.
The sheriff says this has never happened before.
