Residents at Clifton Village have had their share of March Madness. In the past couple of weeks their locked community mailbox has been broken into three times.
The crooks have tried to cash checks they stole from the boxes, but residents say what's even scarier is the information they may have gotten away with. Information that could lead to identity theft.
Mail theft is nothing new, but normally locked boxes are fairly safe. Not anymore, now when it comes to the mail your best bet is using the post office. It's also a good idea to try and limit the things you receive in the mail. Most banks and credit card companies allow you to access your monthly statement on-line. That way you can cancel your monthly paper statement.
