YULEE, Fla. -- The elderly passenger of an SUV died after his wife turned in front of and collided with a school bus carrying four elementary aged students.
According to Bill Leeper with the Florida Highway Patrol, a school bus was traveling west bound on A1A approaching I-95 when an SUV traveling eastbound attempting to turn left to go north on I-95 turned in front of the bus, causing the bus to hit the SUV on the right passenger side.
73-year-old John Robert Ryder, the passenger of the SUV, died at the scene.
There were four elementary aged children on the bus but they were not injured.
Both the driver of the SUV, 70-year-old Carole Ryder, and the driver of the school bus were taken to Shands Jacksonville.
At last check, Carole Ryder was in critical condition. The bus driver's condition is unknown.
