Suspect shot by JSO officer at traffic stop describes incident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 24-year-old suspect who was shot by an officer from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is still recovering in a hospital.

Keith Crowder was shot twice during a traffic stop on June 23. Police said they're very familiar with him, saying he's a known gang member.

Investigators said a handgun was found inside his vehicle.

In a video obtained from TheBlackViewPoint.com, Crowder talks about the night he was shot by a JSO officer.

JSO said Crowder didn’t comply to commands after he was pulled over.

“The subject immediately exited the vehicle,” said JSO Undersheriff Pat Ivey. “Verbal commands were given to the subject to re-enter the vehicle, but he did not.”

But it’s still unclear exactly why the officer fired. Crowder claims he did nothing to prompt the shooting.

Action News Jax obtained cellphone video of the officer who shot Crowder trying to give first aid to him.

Crowder has a reported lengthy criminal history including domestic battery and strong arm robbery.
