Suspected serial car-wash burglar strikes again in Jacksonville

A suspected serial car-wash burglar may be behind another hit.

Action News Jax obtained brand-new surveillance video from the burglary early Friday morning at the Pit Stop Superwash at Atlantic Boulevard and Girvin Road. It's the latest in at least a dozen car wash burglaries in Jacksonville and Clay County.

The surveillance video shows the suspect in what appears to be a white Toyota Camry.

He pulls into the car wash before 2:30 a.m. Friday. About 25 minutes later, he cuts the power to the car wash so the cameras can't catch him in the act.

“What he's doing is using a pry bar to pry open my coin boxes,” owner Mark Kramer said.

Kramer said the suspect got away with money from his cash boxes in the car wash bays.

“We've been hit probably seven to eight times in the last six to eight weeks,” Kramer said. “This past two weeks, five times.”

On Monday, $7,000 in cash was taken from a car wash on Emerson Street. Tens of thousands of dollars more in damage was done to equipment.

Action News Jax previously showed you images of the suspect, described as a thin white man with dark hair.

He has also been associated with a Toyota 4-Runner, and one of the surveillance videos shows him working with a partner.

Kramer believes he's involved in all of these burglaries.

“Hopefully we'll find him and get him locked up so we don't have these issues,” Kramer said.
