Suspects arrested after 14 guns stolen

PALATKA, Fla. — Fourteen guns were stolen in two separate robberies at the Foxy Pawn shop in Palatka.

The first robbery happened on July 31 and the second on Aug. 3 both during the early morning hours.

On Aug. 5 another burglary occured at a business down the street at John's Games where numerous electronic devices such as cellphones and tablets were stolen.

The two burglaries were suspected to be connected and extra patrols were ordered for the area.

In the early morning of Aug. 6th, officers spotted teenagers on the road and attempted to check on them when they took off and hid.

The two were located and evidence was uncovered that connected them to the burglary at John's Games and at least one of the burglaries at the pawn shop.

The young men, Jataveis McHellen, 16 and Jerome Oxendine, 15 were arrested and detained by the Juvenile Justice Authority on numerous charges.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing.
