Teen killed in weekend crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 16-year-old was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Northwest Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 5 a.m. in the 6000 block of Moncrief Road, near Edgewood Avenue.

The vehicle crashed when it did not make a turn. The vehicle crossed multiple lanes of traffic and hit a wooden light pole, says a JSO news release.

The driver and three passengers, who are all juveniles, were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Another passenger, 16-year-old Melvin Woodard, died at the scene.

JSO says the vehicle was reported stolen.

This is an ongoing investigation.
