Wrong-way driver leads FHP in chase on I-10

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman driving the wrong way led the Florida Highway Patrol on a multi-county chase along Interstate 10.

A driver in Suwannee County called 911 to report a blue Toyota Corolla driving eastbound in the westbound lanes.

A trooper spotted the car, which had already moved to the correct side of the highway.

The trooper pulled the car over in Columbia County and, as he walked to check on the driver, the car took off.

The trooper tried to pull the car over for a second time but the driver kept going.

Authorities placed stop sticks in the road, flattening tires on both the suspect's car and the FHP vehicle.

A deputy from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office continued the pursuit until the driver of the Toyota stopped in Baker County.

No one was hurt.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Dekita Latoya Gooddine of Tampa.

She is facing charges of reckless driving and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer.
