Awning damaged at gas station
Part of an awning at a gas station in Mayport was blown down Tuesday night.
The owner said he heard a loud boom, but thought it was thunder. He told Action News Jax that a portion of the awning was brought down two years ago by a storm.
The store manager said early Wednesday morning that the store and gas pumps in the front are open. The store manager said no customers are allowed in the back portion of the Chevron gas station.
Many electrical lines are still visible, but store owner told Action News Jax that the electrical lines are not live.
