Turn it up for Jordan: Group honors teen shot, killed at Jacksonville gas station

It’s been five years since a Jacksonville teen was shot during an argument over loud music at a Southside gas station.

Friends and family gathered to remember 17-year-old Jordan Davis on Thursday.

Michael Dunn shot Davis at the Gate gas station on Southside Boulevard in 2012.

Jordan died and Dunn was sentenced to life in prison in 2014.

A group of people met up at the gas station and played music to honor Jordan, calling the event "Turn it up for Jordan."

Jordan's father, Ron Davis, posted a photo on Thursday calling Thanksgiving this year a bittersweet day.

“I hope you understand that this year it falls on the 23rd November,” he wrote.

Ron Davis is hosting a special celebration Friday to honor his son’s life.

It will be held at the Deerwood Bistro beginning at 7 p.m.

Former Jacksonville mayor Alvin Brown is the keynote speaker.

Dunn's location was kept secret until we uncovered he's being housed in an Oregon prison.

In a letter to Action News Jax reporter Bridgette Matter, he talks a lot about the evidence, claiming "Math, science, and self defense law" and "simple geometry" should exonerate him.

Dunn has reopened his case, representing himself, requesting a new trial and counsel. We showed the letter to Jordan Davis’ father Ron Davis.

"I felt like he was very unemotional. It was about the law. It was about his perception of the law," Davis said.

Five years later, Davis said the letter proves Dunn still has no remorse.
