Two 15-year-olds and man arrested after Jacksonville Beach car burglaries

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Jacksonville Beach police arrested two juveniles and an adult Wednesday night after several car burglaries.

Two 15-year-olds and 26-year-old Paul Elmore were all arrested.

Police say a neighbor called 911 after capturing three males on a security camera walking through a garage, attempting to get into any vehicle they could.

Action News Jax cameras were rolling when nearly a dozen officers arrived near First Street South on Wednesday night.

Austin Dukes has lived in the area for the past seven years.

"If you live in this beach and you don't lock your car door and you live on a street like this, you're asking for it," said Dukes.

Police say the three suspects ran away when police got to the area but were spotted later by neighbors.

A police report, says an officer had to deploy his dog, named Jaco, to help catch the third suspect.

"I mean, how many kids drive by here with empty backpacks or riding around with bicycles and then you see them later their backpacks are full, and guess what?" Dukes explained.

Jacksonville Beach police told Action News Jax they don't believe any items were stolen from inside the cars the thieves targeted.

For now, Dukes is making sure what he owns is locked up to keep thieves away.

"I got the tank locked to the barbecue grill so no one won't steal my propane. That's why they go for your car," said Dukes.

Police are asking neighbors to lock their doors and to keep valuable items out of plain view to keep from becoming a victim.
