U.S. Marshals assists in arrest of St. Johns County home invasion suspect

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said the U.S. Marshals Service assisted Friday night in the arrest of a suspect in a Ponte Vedra Beach home invasion that triggered the Amber Alert of 16-year-old Marcus Hatch.

Kyle Andre-Justin Byrd, 22, of Baldwin, is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, grand theft of a motor vehicle and home invasion, according to SJSO Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan.

Byrd was initially taken into custody on a charge of Violation of Probation out of Duval County. Following Byrd's arrest, St. Johns County detectives interviewed him regarding the events surrounding the home invasion, Mulligan said.

Detectives are continuing to seek two additional suspects who are believed to be associates of Byrd's, and who may accompany him on a routine basis.

Anyone who may have information about Byrd's or any of his known associates, are asked to review the descriptions released earlier this week and contact the SJSO Major Crimes Unit or CrimeStoppers.

He is being held in the Duval County Jail on no bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday at 9 a.m.
