The U.S.S. Iwo Jima is back in Jacksonville after aiding disaster relief in Haiti Haiti following Hurricane Matthew.
The ship left Mayport before the hurricane to avoid potential damages before it was called to go to Haiti.
The ship's commanding officer said the crew delivered more than 600,000 pounds of supplies to Haiti.
"We were able to get our helicopters in a lot of remote areas with washed out roads," Officer James Midkiff said. "Our helicopter was the first with water and medical supplies."
