Utility worker shocked in St. Johns County

A utility worker in St. Johns County is in a hospital after being shocked.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A utility worker in St. Johns County is in a hospital after being shocked.

The incident happened Monday on County Road 13 and Picolata Forest Drive.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue Department responded just after 10 a.m.

Deputies said a man was working as part of subcontractor crew for Florida Power and Light. Crews were putting grounds on a transformer when he was shocked.

According to deputies, he was screaming when they arrived on the scene and was burned.

The victim is in serious condition but is expected to be OK.
