Right now, the suspect is still on the loose.

Action News Jax reporter Courtney Cole went out to the complex and spoke to one of the victims. "I was stunned. I was surprised. God is on my side so, I’m glad I’m alive.”

The 19-year-old victim, who did not identify himself, told Action News Jax he was one of the victims in Monday morning’s double shooting.

While some neighbors said they didn't hear anything when the shooting happened — gunfire left holes behind in a resident's car.

The victim told Action News Jax he was shot twice in the hand. "I was leaving my house to walk to the beach and on the way back a car drove by and they just started spraying.”

He was taken to the hospital and now bandages are covering his right hand.

His friend remains in the hospital.

“I was worried for my family, I thought I was going to lose my hand,” the victim said.

The victim told Cole that the shooting wasn't random. His friend was supposed to meet up with another man to resolve an issue when the shooting happened.

“I guess he was supposed to meet up with him right here and then he just started shooting.”

Action News Jax reached out to Neptune Beach police to learn more about the motive of the shooting and the suspect, but has not yet heard back.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
