Florida is one of the worst states in the nation for children’s health care.
That’s according to a new study published on WalletHub
Florida ranks 38th among all states when it comes to children’s health according to WalletHub.
The company wanted to find which states had the most cost-effective quality health care for children and their findings are unsettling.
Only 12 states are worse.
- Florida is 49th in percentage of overweight children
- 49th in percentage of children with good teeth
- 48th in percentage of children in very good health
- 27th in infant death rate.
- 47th in percentage of uninsured children
Tra’chella Johnson Foy, the Duval County Medical Society past president, says preventive care is key.
“Make sure you’re making doctors’ appointments, making dental appointments regularly, that’s another place we are falling short.”
The study used 30 factors, in issues of cost, quality and access to children’s health care.
It’s something parents and health professionals say we all need to improve upon.
