12:30 p.m. Tuesday update: JSO says a man is charged with murder after he reportedly told police he killed his wife inside his Bartram Park home.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the woman found dead as Jennifer Herbert.

JSO said they got a call from Flagler County deputies requesting they check on the wellbeing of Herbert at the home on White Blossom Circle.

JSO said deputies were holding Wilford Gerald Chason under the Baker Act after he claimed he had killed his wife.

Officers found her body and suspected foul play.

Chason was taken to the Daytona Beach Police Department and JSO issued a warrant for murder.

Chason did not give a reason for the murder, according to JSO.

Officers said a man was driving south on I-95 and called OnStar stating there were issues.

Daytona Beach police tracked him down and detained him.

Police said the man was taken to a hospital.

That’s where officers said he told them he killed someone at his home in Jacksonville.

JSO conducted a wellness check and found a woman dead inside and suspect foul play.

“It’s a sad situation that something so drastic should take place,” a neighbor said.

Action News Jax looked up the address of the home at the center of the investigation and found that a man who lives there is a registered sex offender.

Neighbors said police came to their doors asking about the man.

“They asked me if I knew him, if I had a relationship with the guy, if we were friendly and I told them I really never did,” a neighbor said.

However, police haven’t called the man who was detained a suspect at this point.

Police haven’t released the relationship of the two people or how the victim was killed.

Neighbors told Action News Jax the couple that lives at the home had been having issues.

Officers from JSO went to Daytona Beach to speak with the man and are determining if charges should be filed.
