Woman killed in head-on crash on U.S. 17 in Nassau County

The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Nassau County.

The crash happened at 3:10 p.m. on U.S. 17 south of Harts Road, according to an FHP news release.

A 2012 Hyundai driven by Kimberly Sue Docowski, 49, of Yulee, was traveling northbound on U.S. 17 south of Harts Road when a vehicle stopped in front of her to make a left turn into a private driveway, FHP said.

Docowski was not able to stop in time and traveled to the left and went northbound in the southbound lane of U.S. 17, FHP said.

The front of the Hyundai struck the front of a 2011 Ford driven by 23-year-old Daniel Arceo of Coconut Creek.

Docowski was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Arceo had serious injuries.

Charges are pending in the crash, FHP said.
