JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A woman in her seventies pleaded guilty to hiring a hit man to kill her daughter-in-law.
Prosecutors said Diana Reaves Costarakis, 71, solicited an undercover detective for $5,000 to commit the crime.
Costarakis, according to the State Attorney's Office, thought her daughter-in-law was a bad mother. Prosecutors said she planned on taking her granddaughter once the mother divorced Costarakis' son.
Investigators said Costarakis gave the undercover detective $2,000 and promised the remainder once the job was carried out. She also told the undercover detective he could take the victim's expensive jewelry and sell it, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Costarakis faces 15 years in prison. She will be sentenced in late September.
