Three people were taken to the hospital after police say a wrong-way driver in an SUV slammed into a semitruck near New Kings Road and Edgewood Avenue on Friday night.
The crash happened just before 7 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Two people were in the SUV and police are working to learn why the SUV was traveling in the wrong direction.
"There was an SUV that was headed eastbound on Edgewood Avenue in the westbound lane. The two vehicles collided. The SUV was occupied by two adult males," said JSO Lt. John Gay.
The passenger in the SUV has critical injuries.
