Zaxby's to hold fundraiser for fallen Nassau County deputy's daughter Wednesday

There will be a fundraiser for fallen Nassau County Deputy Eric Oliver's daughter at two Zaxby's locations on Wednesday.

Ten percent of proceeds between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Zaxby's locations in Yulee and Fernandina Beach will go to the Oliver family.

Oliver was laid to rest on Nov. 26 after he was hit by a car in the line of duty.

Oliver was hit by a car on SR 200 on Nov. 22 while assisting Border Patrol agents in pursuit of an undocumented immigrant.

He was chasing Francisco Obidio Portillo Fuentes, who has been deported twice, after he ran from a car that border agents were checking.

The Nassau County community and sheriff's office have pledged their support for Oliver's 6-year-old daughter.

Deputies walked her to school on Nov. 29, and the community has raised more than $10,000 for her on a GoFundMe page.
