2-year-old boy drowns in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Channel 9 has confirmed a 2-year-old boy has drowned in Daytona Beach.

The toddler was found in a pond near Aleapha Street on Monday.

Officials said CPR was performed on the child as he was being taken to a hospital, but the child was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities said the child may have wandered and when the mother looked outside, saw him in the pond.

No other details have been released.
