ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County man is in a hospital after he was the victim of a stabbing in a road rage attack.
Jon Spengler, 46, has never been arrested in Orange County before.
Authorities say something inside of him snapped while driving, sending him into a fit of road rage and leading him to stab a 23-year-old college graduate Monday night.
"In this case, our victim was completely innocent. Doesn't even know what he did wrong," Jane Watrel, with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said.
WFTV Eyewitness News was there after the victim was rushed to a hospital.
He told deputies he simply had switched lanes when another driver suddenly pulled in front of him, slammed his breaks, then stopped and got out.
The victim told Eyewitness News he tried to roll up his window, but before he could, the man ambushed his car, pulled out a knife and stabbed him through the window.
The victim was able to grab the man's wrist and fight him off, and the man got back in his truck and took off.
"The victim was seriously in fear for his life and legitimately so. It looked like the suspect really wanted to kill this person," Watrel said.
Witnesses were able to give deputies the suspect's license plate number, and deputies tracked him down and arrested him last night.
The victim said he feels lucky to be alive and is glad the man picked him to attack and not someone who was too weak to fight him off.
