CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The family dog, a normally friendly mutt began growling and snarling every time Alexis Khan was in the same room.
That wasn’t all, the dog, named Killian, would stand between the baby and Khan at every opportunity.
That made Ben Jordan and his wife wonder if there was something strange going on.
So they secretly hid an iPhone under a couch and recorded the sounds in the room when Khan was babysitting.
What they heard was shocking, and scary.
"It started with cussing," Ben told WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina.
And it didn’t end there.
"Then you hear slap noises and his crying changes from a distress cry to a pain cry."
The Jordan’s turned that recording over to Charleston police and they secured a confession out of Khan who pleaded guilty to assault and battery.
The charges have teeth, the sitter will spend one to three years in jail as well as being prevented from every working with children again.
The Jordan’s had little Fin checked out at a hospital and he’s fine but the two say they’ll be more than a little careful from now on when it comes to picking a babysitter.
And as for Killian, he’s got a home and dog biscuits for life.
