ATLANTA -- Georgia has been named one of the worst states for grease fires on Thanksgiving, according to a study from State Farm Insurance.

The insurance company ranked states based on grease fire claims on the holiday.

Georgia tied for sixth with South Carolina.

The top five states are Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.

State Farm says more cooking fires happen on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year.

More than one-third of fires involving a fryer start in a garage or patio. The best bet is to cook outdoors at a safe distance from any buildings or trees and keep the fryer off any wooden structures, such as a deck or patio.
