NEW YORK, N.Y. (WHIO) -- A U.S. soldier from Kettering has been charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend's infant son, according to reports.

Fox affiliate WNYF is reporting Gary McKenzie II, of Gouverneur, N.Y., was indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury in the July 16th death of the 7-month-old.

New York State Police responded to a report of the injured infant and found McKenzie attempting to resuscitate him.

The baby's mother, Savanna Goble, is from Dayton, local family members said.

McKenzie is a Fort Drum Army soldier. He remains jailed on $50,000 bail.
