ORLANDO, Fla. (WBDO) -- A Florida development firm is facing some heated backlash after a women's group accused their new logo of being sexist.

The group's main objection is the necktie that has replaced the "I" in Florida.

So WDBO asked some Orlando residents if they thought the logo was sexist.

"If feel like its creative, like they’re thinking outside the box," said one Orlando woman.

Others felt the same way.

"I categorize myself as a feminist and I don't see anything wrong with it," said another woman.

The logo reveal is part of the state's first ever business brand to highlight Florida's reputation and status as a "super-state" to do business, according to Enterprise Florida.

The brand reflects the state’s existing business foundation, economic power, capabilities and resources, according to the news release.

"Now it is time for us to share the Florida story in a significant way. Many people work year round to be able to visit the state. Why wait? Florida's business climate makes it an equally appealing place to locate, start or expand a business," said Secretary of Commerce and President & CEO of Enterprise Florida Inc. Gray Swoope.

I say who cares! There are too many other issues to be worried about. Some people will have a problem with the littlest of things. Too much time on their hands it seems to me.

I personally am not that fond of the logo for two reasons. First, I don't know of very many businesses in this state where anyone even wears a tie anymore. Maybe in a large city in the north but Florida is more of a laid back state where the dress code is a little bit more lax. The tie, to me, is representative of male owned businesses like something out of the 50's. I think whoever was on this committee to choose the noew logo could have looked at other ideas that might have been more appropriate for our particular state.

I guess no one in that women's group has ever worn a tie themselves. Ties are a visible symbol of serious business. Would they have rather the D got changed to a sideways apron? Oh wait, no, that would have been sexist too. Seriously, changing the I for a tie that kind of looks like an upside down exclamation point should be the least of the problem the group has. Go after the jerks who are mistreating people in the workplace, not some logo.
