NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say two people were injured after a shooting on the ice rink of a popular midtown Manhattan park.

Officials say emergency crews responded to reports of a shooting at Bryant Park just after 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police say two men - one shot in the torso and the other in the leg - were taken to a hospital and their injuries weren't life-threatening.

Witness Raghuram Krishnamachar says he was eating dinner at a restaurant above the rink when he heard shots and saw people fall to the ground.

The park is in bustling midtown Manhattan, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and near the New York Public Library.

A spokesman for the not-for-profit that privately manages the park says the park is virtually crime free.
