SPARKS, Nev. -- At least two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting at a northern Nevada middle school, Action News affiliate KTVN reports.

The shooting happened at Sparks Middle School in Sparks, Nev., which is just east of Reno.

Cmdr. Rocky Triplett of the Sparks Police Department said it was unclear how many people were shot.

Police said a suspect is in custody.

Washoe County School District spokesman Charles Rahn said the middle school and the adjacent Agnes Risley Elementary School have been evacuated to Sparks High School. Rahn said the middle and elementary schools will be closed Monday.

(KTVN, CNN and the Associated Press contributed to this report.)
