SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the theft of a Savannah city councilwoman's car, and the mayor could be a key witness in the case.
Councilwoman Mary Osborne told police her 2000 black-over-silver Lincoln Town Car Cartier was stolen from in front of her home on Wednesday.
The Savannah Morning News reports that Mayor Edna Jackson saw the car that day heading east on Victory Drive and waved, thinking it was Osborne, but then realized Osborne wasn't driving. The mayor didn't recognize the man driving or the passenger.
Authorities say the car is distinctive because it has a crack in the windshield that extends around the steering wheel, has a missing right front hub cap, a Lincoln "Signature" front license plate and a "city of Savannah" parking sticker.
