CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A pregnant woman who escaped the Colorado theater attack uninjured is delivering her baby as her wounded husband lies in a hospital in critical condition.
The father of 21-year-old Katie Medley said she was giving birth Monday.
The father, David Sanchez, said her daughter's husband, 23-year-old Caleb Medley, was shot in the head.
It wasn't immediately clear if the husband and wife were in the same hospital.
While his daughter was in labor, the angry Sanchez waited outside the courthouse where shooting suspect James Holmes made his first court appearance. He said his daughter escaped death by mere seconds.
Sanchez said his daughter and son-in-law have been waiting for a year to watch the premiere of the Batman movie.
SAN DIEGO (AP) - A lawyer representing family members of the suspect in the Colorado mass shooting plans to hold a news conference Monday in San Diego.

She's representing the family of 24-year-old James Holmes, who made his first court appearance Monday in a Denver suburb where he's being held without bond.
Authorities say Holmes opened fire on a crowded movie theater Friday at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie. Twelve people were killed and 58 were injured.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - The father of one Colorado shooting victim sat staring at suspect James Holmes during his first court appearance.
Tom Teves sat in the front row Monday as a judge advised Holmes of the allegations against him. His son Alex Teves was killed in the Friday shooting at a packed movie theater.
Two women held hands tightly, one shaking her head.
Holmes showed little emotion during the hearing, which appeared to anger some family members of victims who attended.
David Sanchez, who waited outside the courthouse during Holmes' hearing, said his pregnant daughter escaped uninjured but her husband was shot in the head and was in critical condition. His daughter was delivering their baby on Monday.
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado district attorney says it will likely be at least a year before the suspect in a movie theater attack stands trial.
District attorney Carol Chambers says it will be months before a decision is made on the death penalty. He will be charged next Monday.
James Holmes' eyes drooped and he blinked rapidly, at times opening his eyes widely. He was unshaven as he sat staring down. His hair was dyed reddish orange.
Chambers says she has no information on whether Holmes is on medication.
