Zimmerman to have second bond hearing today
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A second bond hearing is set for the accused killer of Trayvon Martin Friday morning.
Zimmerman is accused of shooting Trayvon Martin to death in February. He claims he shot the 17-year-old in self defense. He is currently behind bars, but he will make another attempt to try to get out of jail again Friday.
This will be the second time that Zimmerman tries to convince a judge to let him out on bond.
Zimmerman was previously released on $150,000 bond earlier this month after prosecutors told the judge a website Zimmerman created for his legal defense had raised $135,000.
That bond was revoked after prosecutors presented evidence that Zimmerman and his wife Shellie had misled the court about how much money they had including multiple jail phone calls when they spoke in code about their finances.
The calls also detail how Zimmerman instructed his wife to transfer money between bank accounts. It was enough to put Zimmerman back behind bars. Today he will have another opportunity to be released in the days leading up to his trial.
