Jim Zerwekh, vice president and general manager of Cox Media Group (CMG) Jacksonville TV’s WAWS/WTEV announced today that CBS47 and FOX30 will broadcast all 16 regular season Jaguars games.
“When the Jags games count, those games are on CBS47 and FOX30,” said Jim Zerwekh, vice president and general manager for WAWS/WTEV. “We’re happy to continue to be the official TV home of the Jaguars fan.”
In addition to all 16 regular season Jaguars games CBS47 and FOX30 will also broadcast 45 additional NFL games as well as the wild card weekend, divisional playoffs and the NFC and AFC Championship.
CBS47 is also home to the only over the air South Eastern Conference (SEC) games in town. CBS47 will broadcast 17 SEC games including the Georgia Florida game on November 1st and the SEC Championship on December 6th.
FOX30 has plenty of college football action too. FOX30 is home to 17 games featuring the PAC-12 and BIG12 conferences, as well as the BIG10 championship on December 6th.
The Action Sports team at CBS47 and FOX30 will be busy this fall too. Brent, Dan, and Stuart will team up to produce more than 160 hours of locally produced coverage. Action Sports is already in the middle of the “Action Sports 1st & 10 Training Camp Edition” which airs weeknights at 10:45 p.m. on FOX30. Sunday September 7th kicks off the “Action Sports Tailgate Show” at 11a.m. on FOX30 followed by the “Action Sports Pre-Game Show” at 11:30 a.m. on FOX30 and CBS47. Football coverage doesn’t end there. The “Action Sports Eye on the NFL” will air at 7 p.m. preceding Thursday Night Football on CBS47.
“The commitment we’ve made to local sports is unprecedented,” said Brent Martineau Action Sports Director. “We are fortunate to have the platform to deliver the sports news of the day and tell the stories that makes Jacksonville such a passionate sports town.”
“It’s awesome to have all 16 regular season Jaguars games on our air,” said Dan Hicken. “It’s an opportunity for our sports-team to showcase the best coverage in town, and one of the main reasons I came to work at CBS47/FOX30 Action News. Our commitment to sports is unmatched and quite frankly I’ve never seen anything like it in my 29 years here in Jacksonville.”
