Seafood store demolished after semi-truck crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A seafood store west of downtown Jacksonville is a pile of bricks after a semi-truck crashed into it Wednesday.

The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department says the crash involved a Coca-Cola truck and a JTA bus. The semi-truck crashed into Discount Seafood, which is near the intersection of West Beaver Street and North Myrtle Avenue.

Police blocked off the road next to the scene because they were worried vibrations from drivers could further collapse the  building.

Emergency crews had to demolish the seafood store because they were afraid if would collapse into road.

"It's kind of hard on people when you put your blood sweat and tears into something and it's all gone. But he'll [the owner] be straight," said Derak Clay a neighbor.

The demolition began late Wednesday night.

"I'm pretty sure he [the owner] is and it's going to be better,"  Clay said when asked about the possibility of the owner rebuilding.

Six people were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not critical.
