DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Federal agents raided a home in DeKalb County on Wednesday afternoon that they called a synthetic drug lab.

WSB Channel 2's Tony Thomas was there as drug enforcement agents sorted, smashed, and crushed the suspected lab.

Thomas said he could see authorities in breathing masks and protective gear carrying plastic jugs of liquid and bags full of smaller vials.

It was all put into larger barrels and hauled away from the house just outside the Avondale Estates city limits.

Neighbor Shauna Ewing told Thomas she had noticed an odd smell from the house the past few weeks.

"Every time you drove by, if your windows were down, there was some bizarre taste that would enter into the car," Ewing said.

Several neighbors told Thomas the house recently was put up for rent.

"They must have just moved in. I have never met them before or seen them," neighbor Beau Eassey said.

"(It's) kind of surprising for it to be this close to home," neighbor Mike Lowry said.

The DEA won't say what led agents to the small house, but do confirm two people were arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

"I'm glad it's taken care of," Ewing told Thomas.

Agents said they are still doing tests to figure out exactly what type of synthetic drugs were allegedly being made at the home.
