BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- A man is accused of trying to impersonate a sheriff's deputy to get a discount at a gun shop.

Sheriff's deputies said Christopher Everhardt , 22, posed as a Broward County deputy at a gun shop in Pompano Beach.

Investigators said he did it twice this month.

The gun shop owner called deputies when something didn't seem right.

Now, investigators are trying to figure out how he got a real Broward County Sheriff's Office badge.

"He drove a vehicle that looked like a law enforcement vehicle, with spotlights on it. He had handcuffs. He had high-capacity magazines he wanted to trade in," said Dani Moschella of the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Everhardt was released from jail on $75,000 bail.

He also had to forfeit all weapons in his possession.
