FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida bicyclist has lost her fight against a ticket issued for riding outside a bike lane in Weston.

Molli Serrano was the only cyclist ticketed in March when she and a few dozen others left the bike lane to pass a slower rider during an early morning ride.

During a hearing last month, Deputy Dominic Raimondi said he stopped Serrano because she stood out in her purple riding gear. The South Florida SunSentinel reports Serrano is a cancer survivor who wears purple to bring awareness to pancreatic cancer.

In a six-page ruling, Broward County Magistrate Brenda Di Ioia found Serrano guilty, but withheld adjudication.

Serrano told the newspaper she'll pay the $125 fine. But Serrano says she still believes it was "a misapplication of the law."

Goggle how many bike riders die in fla because they must share the side of the road with drivers. On same hand should be a move over law for bicycles going to slow in the bike lanes. Anyone who is brave enough to ride in bike lane in fla has my respect. To many people kill them by not paying attention when driving in this state.
