CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A former Atlanta Hawks player has been charged with second degree vehicular homicide following a deadly crash.
The Clayton County solicitor announced the charges against Daron Oshay "Mookie" Blaylock on Monday afternoon.
Blaylock crashed into a van carrying a couple on Tara Boulevard Friday, Jonesboro police said. A woman in the van, Monica Murphy, died that night at the hospital. Her husband was discharged with no injuries.
Blaylock is also charged with driving on a suspended license, improper lane change, driving on the wrong side of the road and crossing into the median.
Police said Blaylock wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he drove into oncoming traffic. His wife told officers he was having trouble with seizures.
Blaylock, a point guard, played 13 seasons in the NBA, including with the Atlanta Hawks from 1992 to 1999. Address records show he lives in Zebulon in Pike County.
