JONESBORO, Ga. -- Former Atlanta Hawks star Mookie Blaylock surrendered to police on Monday.
He’s accused of causing a crash that killed a mother of five.
WSB’s Tom Jones was the only reporter at the Jonesboro Police Department as Blaylock turned himself in and was transported to the Clayton County Jail.
Blaylock, 46, is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, making an improper lane change, driving on the wrong side of the road, crossing the median and driving on a suspended license.
Police said Blaylock crossed the median on Tara Boulevard and slammed into a van driven by Frankie Murphy. Murphy’s wife, Monica, died in the crash.
Blaylock’s attorneys told WSB Channel 2 Action News that Blaylock had a blackout during the crash. Police said he did not swerve or attempt to brake before the collision.
