BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A bank director accused of losing millions of dollars from his investors appeared in federal court Thursday morning, the first sign of him since he vanished in June 2012.

Price wore shackles around his ankles and had U.S. Marshals on either side of him during his first court appearance.

Price told authorities he's been homeless for the past year and a half, and traveled around the country working as a migrant worker.

He faces a one-count indictment on bank fraud charges, a crime that could send Price to prison for 30 years.  He also faces a $1 million fine.

His family was at the hearing, but left, not wanting to answer any questions from the media.

A judge set a bond hearing for Monday at 9 a.m. in Savannah.  Prosecutors said he's a flight risk and should be denied bond.

Price disappeared in June 2012 after sending a rambling confession letter to his family and investors saying he planned to drown himself off the Florida coast.

Prosecutors say Price raised $40 million from his bank and 115 investors, and lost much of the money.

A Florida judge declared him dead about a year ago. He wrote a letter to his family But the FBI had said it didn't believe Price was dead.

He was spotted alive in Key West. He's been wanted by the FBI ever since.

The Glynn County Sheriff's Office arrested Price Tuesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Brunswick.

Authorities are reviewing Price's finances.  He could get a public defender.  He is being held in the Glynn County Jail and will be moved to a jail in Chatham or Bullock county.
