GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County grandmother chased burglars from her home and rammed their car twice with her minivan to get them to stop.
At 62 years old, there's not much that scares Olga Rosado. She shares her recent encounter with burglars on Sunday like it was no big deal.
"I damaged the car when I hit them," Rosado explained to a neighbor after he asked what happened to her minivan.
When Rosado walked into her kitchen Sunday, the back door was cracked and she quickly got out.
"I start praying, and I said, 'Lord take me away from here before he realizes that I'm here. Take me out. Take me out because I have my daughter and granddaughter in the car.'"
When Rosado got into her car, a woman driving a silver Chevy Impala or Malibu took off, but turned around to pick up the man stealing jewelry inside Rosado's home.
"He just grabs it like nothing and he jump in the car, and that's when I say I have to do something. I have to do something to him because I felt so bad that he was in my house," said Rosado.
That something was to chase the alleged robbers, and do what many would never consider.
"So I hit the car. I accelerate. I hit the car and they were like…the car was shaking and she start going to the left so I chase her to left. I hit her again!" said Rosado.
Rosado's daughter and 5-year-old granddaughter started to get upset in the car.
"I wasn't scared. I wasn't scared then I realize my daughter was crying, 'Mommy, please stop! Mommy please stop. The baby is crying.' That's when I say OK Olga I don't wish this and I don't want to get them," said Rosado.
Even though the burglars got away and Rosado no longer has a minivan that works, she knows the burglars will most likely never mess with her again.
"At the end, the only thing we hope that this is a lesson for them," said Rosado.
Rosado says the man was wearing a checkered shirt and a backwards Oriole hat. The woman driving the car had blonde hair. She says their silver Chevy Impala or Malibu now has some serious damage to the back of it.
Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call the Gwinnett County Police Department.
