Inmate escapes from Orange County Jail
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- Channel 9 has learned an inmate escaped from the Orange County Jail shortly after noon on Monday.
A deputy who knew 31-year-old Willie Hollis was a habitual traffic offender and shouldn’t be driving spotted the man behind the wheel on his way to a court hearing. The deputy arrested Hollis, who was placed in a holding area.
Authorities believe Hollis is believed to have walked around the glass holding area and then sprinted to a vehicle which appeared to be waiting for him outside, possibly driven by his girlfriend.
Hollis is described as a black man, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall with dreadlocks. He was last seen driving a gray 2008 Nissan Altima with a New York license plate.
Anyone with information to Hollis' whereabouts is asked to contact authorities.
