Man guilty of Pensacola fatal robbery
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle man has been convicted of fatally shooting a teen during a home invasion.
An Escambia County jury found Bennie Robbins III guilty Thursday of first-degree felony murder, grand theft auto, cocaine possession and resisting an officer without violence. He faces life in prison at his March 24 sentencing.
Authorities say Robbins killed 19-year-old Matthew Cox during a robbery at the teen's Pensacola home in July of 2012.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that investigators found Robbins in possession of the pistol used to kill Cox, and found his DNA inside of a blue knit cap witnesses said the gunman wore during the crime.
