One person killed in Wellington experimental plane crash

WELLINGTON, Fla. (PBPost) -- One person died in a plane crash this afternoon near the Wellington Aero Club.

The plane is a single-engine experimental plane. It crashed around 12:55 p.m. into a lake in the 2900 block of Greenbriar Boulevard.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews removed one person from the cockpit. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, a spokesman said.

The crash location is near the aero club, which is a private airpark community south of Southern Boulevard and northwest of Pierson Road. The location is also near the Wellington Dog Park which is located at 2975 Greenbriar Blvd.

Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies are also at the scene.
