OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -- The search is on for a man who deputies said carjacked a woman at knifepoint as she was leaving a Kissimmee shopping center on Tuesday night.
Osceola County Sheriff's investigators said the incident happened just after 9 p.m.
Investigators said surveillance cameras at a T.J. Maxx store caught images of the suspect entering the store, just before the incident.
"The woman told investigators she had just left the store when the man got into the passenger side of her car with a knife.
"He told her to drive to the nearest bank," said Twis Lizasuain of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said the woman told the man she isn't from the area and doesn't have a bank in the area.
"A struggle ensued and she was able to get away," said Lizasuain.
The woman's car was found nearly 22 miles away behind a Goodyear on South Orange Blossom Trail near Interstate 4.
"There's not that many people just wandering around in the parking lot or anything," said Phillips Rossignolo, who works in the shopping center. "To think that someone, just at knifepoint, got robbed here, that's crazy."
Investigators said the woman suffered an injury to her risk. They believe the suspect might be from the Orlando area, because of the spot he picked to leave the woman's car.
