OVIEDO, Fla. -— Channel 9 has learned a Seminole County judge signed an arrest warrant for an Oviedo woman accused of shooting and killing her 17-year-old daughter before attempting to take her own life on Monday.
Investigators said Sujatha Guduru admitted to shooting her daughter, Chetana Guduru, twice and then turning the gun on herself at their Waverlee Woods home near Broadway Street and Lockwood Boulevard.
Guduru also told detectives the reason she shot her daughter was because she believed there would be no one to care for her after she killed herself.
Police said it's still unclear at this time why Sujatha Guduru wanted to kill herself. She's still at ORMC recovering from her self-inflicted wound.
When she is medically cleared by doctors, the mother will be taken to Orange County Jail where she will remain until she can be extradited to Seminole County.
Sujatha Guduru is charged with first-degree premeditated murder.
At this time, detectives said they belive Sujatha had been planning the murder-suicide for at least a few weeks. They learned that she purchased the handgun, a .38-caliber revolver, which was recovered at the scene, within the last two weeks.
The woman also took the time to draft an email to her brother that detailed her intentions along with detailed instructions for her estate and what she wished done with it, authorities said.
Detectives continue to investigate and review evidence collected at the scene.
