Pedicab driver arrested on charges of raping customer in Daytona Beach
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WFTV) -- A Volusia County pedicab driver was arrested on charges of raping one of his customers, police said.
Police said the incident happened in Daytona Beach, shortly after the driver picked her up on Bayless Boulevard.
The woman said George Brainard took her to a wooded area and attacked her.
Another pedicab driver came to her aid as she was crawling out of the woods, officer said.
Three witnesses described seeing 28-year-old Brainard with the 27-year-old woman before the attack, said police.
The victim told police she asked Brainard to take her west on International Speedway Boulevard. Police said Brainard told the woman he would not charge her for the ride if she gave him sex.
Officers said when she said no, he took her into the woods and forced her to have sex with him.
Brainard was charged with sexual battery.
