DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police say two people were shot and wounded in a parking lot near Delray Medical Center, prompting a lockdown of the hospital during a search for suspects.

Nicole Guerriero is the public information officer for the Delray Beach police department. She said late Thursday that authorities believe the two victims were on their way into the hospital to visit a patient when they were attacked. She said the suspects were still at large after an unsuccessful search by police helicopters.  She said police had not uncovered a motive.

Delray Beach police dispatcher David Goldstein said earlier Thursday that police locked down the hospital after receiving a report of shots fired about 8:41 p.m. Guerriero said the shooters were never inside the medical center.

She said police are continuing to investigate.
