HALL COUNTY, Ga. (WSB) — Gainesville police say a heavily armed man who barricaded himself inside of a room at Motel 6 is in custody.

Channel 2's Richard Elliot is at the motel on Monroe Drive in Gainesville, where GBI investigators joined a SWAT team trying to negotiate with the man.

Police said they got a call at about 9:30 a.m. from a man saying his friend was acting strangely and had barricaded himself in a room.

Elliot is told that the man who barricaded himself is a bounty hunter in his 30s, and had multiple weapons in the room. Police established a perimeter around the motel because of the reports of weapons in his possession, including a rifle and a handgun.

Gunshots were fired from the room, but no one was hurt, authorities said. The man was taken into police custody without incident shortly before 1 p.m.
