APOPKA, Fla. (WFTV) -- Deputies said they are investigating after a police officer's 3-year-old daughter drowned in the pool at their Apopka home on Sunday.

The drowning happened shortly after noon at the officer's home in Apopka, according to officials.

The 3-year-old girl was rushed to Florida Hospital South, where she was pronounced deceased, deputies said.

Residents in the neighborhood were saddened to hear about the incident.

"I can't imagine what they're going to have to deal with and my heart goes out to them," neighbor Chad House said.

The victim is the daughter of an Apopka police officer, officials confirmed. Her identity has not been released.

Deputies said the drowning is accidental, but remains under investigation.
